FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I’ve never done yoga before.  Can I come to a class?

Yes you can! Just take a look at the information on the class guide to see which one will suit you best.  If you are unsure please contact me for advice.

I'm really stiff, can I still practice yoga?

Yes of course you can!  Yoga is not about our ability to create specific shapes with our bodies, it is about cultivating curiosity, acceptance and kindness towards our present moment experience. And, if for you that means noticing how stiffness feels in your body then that's fine! The important thing is we don't force our way into what we perceive to be the 'correct' shape. This will only lead to injury. Be kind to yourself please.

Do you do hands on adjustments?

I do not use my body weight to push or pull you more deeply into a pose.  I try to rely mainly on verbal cues.  Occasionally I may place my hands very lightly on your body in order to help bring your attention to that area.  Please do let me know if you'd prefer I didn't do this.

What should I wear?

Wear clothing that is comfortable and allows you to move easily.  You can wear grippy yoga socks or go barefoot, we do not wear shoes.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Please bring a yoga mat and any blocks/yoga strap you may own. A folded blanket is recommended to use as cushioning where needed.  It can sometimes be tricky to maintain a constant temperature in our practice space, for this reason it's a good idea to wear light layers and to bring a cosy jumper and socks to put on for the final relaxation.

I am recovering from an injury. Can I still do yoga?

If you are injured you should obtain clearance from your GP or health professional before commencing yoga.

I would also highly recommend attending a private class with me before commencing group classes.

I am pregnant/have just had a baby. Can I do yoga?

If you are more than 16 weeks pregnant you can practice yoga. I highly recommend attending a specialised pregnancy yoga class.  I do not offer these currently.  Once you've had your baby you can begin a very gentle practice if given the all clear by your healthcare professional.  Greater care must be taken if you've had a c-section.  Again seek advice but generally wait 8 weeks before commencing a yoga practice.

Do you offer private lessons?

Yes. Private lessons are a great option, whether you are completely new to yoga or have a specific health issue that may benefit from one to one attention.  If you'd like to work with me individually please get in touch to arrange a free informal chat to determine whether I can meet your specific needs.  A single class costs £60; block of 5 classes £250.

Do I need to book?

Yes. Classes numbers are limited so booking is essential. You can book via the 'Book Online' page. Contact me if you require any assistance.
